The SA Non-Admitted Emergency Care domain (NAEC) is an administrative data collection that contains de-identified, demographic, administrative and clinical data detailing presentations to Emergency Departments (ED) at public metropolitan hospitals in South Australia. The NAEC is based on the "Non-Admitted Patient Emergency Department Care" National Minimum Data Set (NMDS).
All public hospitals in South Australia are required to submit information about patient presentations to Emergency Departments and emergency services (provided/funded by a hospital) for the data collection.

Administrative. The purpose of the collection is to enable comparisons of performance in respect to access to services, quality clinical outcomes and patient management. The collection aims to show patterns in presentations to assist in the planning of services and improvement of care and outcomes for the South Australian public.

NAEC data is collected under the authority of the Health Care Act 2008 (SA). The NAEC is administered by the SA Department of Health and Wellbeing. Information in the NAEC is required under the National Health Care and National Health Information Agreements (NHCA & NHIA).
