Approvals required for access

Victoria requires that research projects must have a Human Research Ethics Committee approval as specified in the Health Service Commissioner's Statutory Guidelines issued under Section 22 of the Health Records Act 2001 for the purposes of Health Privacy Principles 1.1e(iii) & 2.2g(iii) on research.

Projects must also be approved by the Victorian Cancer Registry Data custodian.

Approvals required for publication

As part of the department's terms and conditions of release of linked data, the researcher is asked to consult with the department regarding any analysis of the data prior to publication. To ensure there are is no breach of privacy, and to review the validity and interpretation accuracy submit a ‘finalised draft’ to the CVDL generic inbox at: cvdl@health.vic.gov.au. Please allow three weeks for the department to review and provide any feedback.
